The Issue
The Greene County Animal Alliance was formed to address the urgent need for a shelter in Greene County, as none currently exists. As concerned residents of Greene County, members of this group have been doing cat and dog rescues for many years and have found that shelters in neighboring counties are overwhelmed with animals from their own county. This often means turning away Greene County strays and animals that are in need. It is Greene County Animal Alliance's goal to fundraise and create a shelter facility of our own - located in Greene County.
Dogs and cats alike in this area are often abandoned by their human families when they run into financial difficulties, lose their homes, or pass away. These animals face numerous dangers, including the perils of harsh weather, predatory wildlife, disease, and starvation.
Greene County also faces an epidemic of unwanted stray and feral cats. The most effective way to bring this problem under control is through effective spaying and neutering programs, followed by aftercare with a place to recuperate before release or adoption. Our proposed shelter will provide vulnerable cats and dogs with a safe haven, ensuring they have access to proper vet care, nutrition, and a chance at finding loving forever homes.
Our community has a responsibility towards these animals. Combating animal homelessness is both an act of compassion and a step towards enhancing the quality of life in our community.
