CAIRO―The future of the Greene County Animal Alliance is not in peril if the group cannot find a home.

Organization  officials spoke this week about their continued commitment to building a  companion animal shelter in Greene County and said that, contrary to a  recent local media report, they are not at risk of financially going  under.

I have a question for Chairman Linger of the Greene County Legislature and a response to his comments in Porcupine Soup regarding my last appearance at the May 6 meeting of the Greene County  Legislature.  The purpose of my appearance was to make an offer on  behalf of the Greene County Animal Alliance, to purchase five acres of  County owned property at the site of the former Cairo Fairgrounds, for  $75,000, to build a companion animal shelter.

CAIRO―The Greene County Animal Alliance was back in front of county  lawmakers this week in hopes of securing a piece of county-owned land to  build a no-kill shelter.

The nonprofit GCAA has approached the  legislature twice previously seeking a donation of property, but this  time they came with a cash offer.

What a great time at Guaranteed Irish!  We thank them for their generosity in holding this fundraiser for us and to Kitty Kelly and her fantastic band!  This isn't even all of them, her brother and father (90 years old, God bless him!) played the drums as well.  The trumpet player played with Buddy Rich!  The keyboard player (Beard) plays 8 instruments!  Kitty has a fantastic voice and stage presence.  Of course, we couldn't help buying a few things whilst there - who could?  Members of GCAA on the left are:  Joyce Lissandrello, Mark Gorelick and President, Susan True
